Your electricity bill may go up soon.

China will firmly control energy-hungry and high-emission projects to improve the country's "dual control system" on energy consumption and energy intensity, the National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC) said in a recently issued plan released on Thursday. 

Recently, several southern China provinces including Guangdong, Guangxi and Guizhou have adjusted up electricity prices during the peak consumption hours, in response to operating pressure of coal-fired power plants, some of which are on the verge of bankruptcy. 

The Beijing Electric Power Industry Association has joined 11 coal-fired power companies in petitioning authorities to raise electricity rates to avoid bankruptcy amid surging coal prices.

The NDRC has come up with four electricity prices reform measures this year including pumped-storage hydropower, preferential price for new energy, peak-valley electricity prices, and stricter price ladder for electrolytic aluminum industry, Peng Shaozong, an official with the NDRC, said to a press conference on Thursday.

As a part of the plan to reach its goal of peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, China launched the renewable electricity pilot trade program on September 7, which has pushed many companies to shift to products and business running models that are more friendly to the environment.

More than 250 companies from home and abroad took part in green power pilot trading on the first day, purchasing more than 7.9 billion kilowatt hours of green power, which is equivalent of reduction of standard coal burning of more than 2.43 million tons and reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of more than 6.07 million tons.

9月16日，国家发改委印发《完善能源消费强度和总量双控制度方案》。方案明确提出，坚决管控高耗能高排放项目，各地要建立在建、拟建、存量高耗能高排放项目清单，明确处置意见。

《方案》还指出，国家层面预留一定总量指标，统筹支持国家重大项目用能需求、可再生能源发展等；能源消费总量目标分解中，对能源利用效率较高、发展较快的地区适度倾斜。

最近，包括广东、广西和贵州在内的几个华南省份提高了高峰时段的电价，以应对燃煤电厂的运营压力，其中一些电厂处于破产边缘。北京市电力行业协与11家燃煤电力公司一道提出上调电价的请求，以避免在煤炭价格飙升之际破产。

国家发展改革委价格司副司长彭绍宗在新闻发布会上表示，今年以来，国家发展改革委加快推进电价改革，创新抽水蓄能价格机制、出台新能源平价上网政策、优化峰谷分时电价机制、实施更严格的电解铝行业阶梯电价制度。

9月7日，全国绿色电力交易试点启动，开启了我国绿电消费新模式，是以市场机制创新落实“碳达峰、碳中和”的重要举措。据了解，今日启动的首次绿色电力交易，共17个省份259家市场主体参与，达成交易电量79.35亿千瓦时。本次交易预计将减少标煤燃烧243.60万吨，减排二氧化碳607.18万吨。

The Shenzhou-12 manned spacecraft carrying three astronauts has successfully landed on the Dongfeng landing site at 1:34 p.m. today. The crew has carried out extravehicular activities twice a day over the past 90 days, a new record of longest space stay in a single flight for Chinese astronauts.

The administrative organization for the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin was officially unveiled on Friday. The area will be administered by a management committee led by Governor of Guangdong province Ma Xingrui and Macao's Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng.

横琴粤澳深度合作区管理机构17日上午正式揭牌，横琴粤澳深度合作区进入全面实施、加快推进的新阶段。合作区管理委员会由粤澳双方联合组建，统筹决定合作区重大规划、重大政策、重大项目和重要人事任免等。合作区主任由广东省委副书记、省长马兴瑞，澳门特别行政区行政长官贺一诚共同担任。

Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao submitted a letter on Thursday to New Zealand's minister for trade and export growth, Damien O'Connor, that carries China's formal application for accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, or CPTPP, which is a free-trade pact. The two ministers also held a telephone meeting, to talk about follow-up work connected to China's formal application.

China's largest lithium-ion battery maker CATL announced on Thursday a framework agreement with German chemical giant BASF on battery materials solutions, including cathode active materials (CAM) and battery recycling.

宁德时代昨天宣布与巴斯夫欧洲公司在电池材料解决方案领域建立战略合作关系，包括正极活性材料（CAM）及电池回收。

Shares in Chinese lithium giants continued to fall today after plunging by the exchange-imposed limit of 10 percent on Thursday, as an official at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said regulators will take measures to control the cost of new energy vehicles. Today, Tianqi Lithium tumbled 5.1 percent, Ganfeng Lithium and Qinghai Salt Lake fell 2.8 percent and 3.35 percent respectively.  

9月16日上午，工信部副部长在第三届世界新能源汽车大会上提到，目前中国新能源车成本依然偏高。当日，相关股票天齐锂业、赣锋锂业、盐湖股份跌停。今日，天齐锂业跌5.1%，赣锋锂业跌2.8%，盐湖股份跌3.35%。

There’ve been 43 consecutive trading days so far that saw A-shares exceeding the one trillion yuan mark, tying the historical record. Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.19 percent higher at 3613 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.71 percent up at 14359 points. The Hang Seng Index closed 1.03 percent higher at 24920 points.

沪深两市成交额连续43个交易日超1万亿，追平历史纪录。周五A股股市集体收涨，截至收盘，沪指涨0.19%，报收3613点；深成指涨0.71%，报收14359点。港股恒生指数收涨1.03%，报收24920点。
