China's 2024 Two Sessions, the annual gathering of China's national legislature and political advisory body, is grabbing the global limelight once again as it raised the curtain on March 4th. A wide range of topics related to the country's social and economic development are being discussed during the much-anticipated political event. In an exclusive interview with SFC, Naseem Khan Achakzai, Executive Director of Grandview Institution and Ex Advisor Speaker Government of Balochistan, delved deep into major subjects around China's high-quality development, and shared his unique insights into China's New Productive Forces, green transition and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

New Productive Forces would have a very positive impact on the new emerging markets

SFC Voice of Elite: Since China's introduction of the term "New Productive Forces", it has become the focus of discussion among foreign think tanks and media outlets. What's your understanding of this concept, and how would it help boost the economy of China and the world?

Naseem Khan Achakzai: The term "New Productive Forces" as emerged from China, has and would have a very positive impact on the new emerging markets, especially in the fields of science and technology. I believe this term coming out from within China would have a really positive role in the all-round market situation. In terms of what we see in the intelligent market and intelligent information sharing, this will become a new terminology under the umbrella of which the emerging and smart markets would develop, especially within China and abroad.

Positive changes are taking place in China's green economy and carbon emission reduction

SFC Voice of Elite: Speaking from your own experience, what do you think of China's transition towards the green economy, and its sustained efforts to reduce carbon emission?

Naseem Khan Achakzai: All these years during my time visiting China, especially in the past two years, I can definitely see a very positive change when it comes to the green economy and reducing carbon emissions, especially I would quote the example of China's policy on electric vehicles and electric buses, when it comes to the local transportation for the people. I can say it with confidence that China has been focusing a lot on this and reducing carbon emissions, and has taken out a lot of vehicles which usually are with typical gasoline engines. People are now replacing theirs with electric vehicles, and you can see in bigger cities like Beijing, Shanghai and in the Greater Bay Area cities as well.

The GBA plays a very important role in the all-round economic development of China and the world

SFC Voice of Elite: China is sparing no efforts to develop the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In your opinion, how is the growth of the GBA facilitating China's high-level opening up, and how can the world benefit from it?

Naseem Khan Achakzai: The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area since I visited them, they are one of the largest GDP area in China. I think they play a very important role in the all-round economic development of not only China, around these regions, as well as the world. So opening up the Greater Bay Area cities like Shenzhen, which is one of the international cities and newly developed cities in China, would have a really positive impact on the world economy.
