Australian Enterprises see Greater Bay Area as Development Opportunity: Australian diplomat
By Sharon Hu, SFC, 21st Century Business Herald
Many Australians of Guangdong heritage see the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a development opportunity, said Dr. Timothy Kendall, Australian Consul-General in Guangzhou recently.
"Guangdong and Australia maintain close trade ties, with substantial imports of Australian liquefied natural gas and iron ore, which have laid a solid foundation for future trade relations and investment cooperation between the two regions,"said Kendall, who has witnessed the close economic and trade ties between Guangdong and Australia.
Kendall also emphasized that the important part of the bilateral relations lies in people-to-people links. It is the way in which migrants from Guangdong have gone to Australia, establishing themselves economically and has grown a business model and then taken that to the world, Kendall told SFC during an exhibition held by the Australian Consulate General in Guangzhou recently.
Titled "Shared Connections Cantonese Stories in Australia," the exhibition tells the stories about people from Guangdong settling in Australia from the 19th century to the present.
