Amid mounting geopolitical tensions, intensifying technological competition and rising trade protectionism, global economic growth remains clouded by uncertainty. In an exclusive interview with the SFC, Fabrizio Hochschild, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, shared his insights on China's economic outlook, global investment trends, technological innovation, green transition amid evolving world order.

Hochschild stressed that China's development path will profoundly influence the global economic and governance landscape in an era of rapid technological change and restructuring international order. He noted that if China maintains policy stability and predictability, continues to ease foreign investment access and  boost domestic demand during its 15th Five Year Plan period, the country will stay highly attractive to global investors.

Looking ahead, Hochschild identified innovation-driven growth, green transition, and expanded domestic demand as the core drivers of China’s next phase of economic growth. He emphasized that China’s leading role in climate technology and green investment will not only advance domestic green growth but also serve as a vital driving force for global climate cooperation and sustainable development.
